How to Wash and Care—Super 180's Merino Wool (Jersey & Circular Rib) Series

Our 100% Merino Wool Series uses ultra fine 14.5μ fibers, equal to or finer than cashmere, with a shrink-resistant finish that can be washed in water at home. Follow our care instructions for your clothes, and you will enjoy the texture of this very delicate fiber for a long time.

  • Be sure to use neutral detergent, or ‘Delicate Wash’ detergent. Use of a mild alkaline detergent may cause shrinkage. Use of fabric softener is also recommended. Please refrain from using bleach.
  • Hand wash or select a cold, delicate cycle on your washing machine, which is usually called ‘delicate’ or ‘Hand Wash’. When hand washing, please wash by pressing gently and slowly. Avoid wringing or scrubbing, as it may cause felting and shrinkage.
  • Be sure to place your clothes in the mesh laundry bag. It protect it from tangles and snags in the washing machine.
  • Animal fibers (silk and wool) may transfer dye between each other. For example, if black silk and white silk are washed together, the black dye may transfer to the white silk. To prevent this, it is recommended to wash them separately as much as possible, or wash them together with similar colors (darker colors, lighter colors, etc.).
  • If left wet, the color may migrate to other items. Dry it immediately.
  • Line dry in the shade. Place the garment on a hanger and pull vertically to smooth out creases and shape the garment. If the garment is hung to dry with creases, it may harden as it is and shrink when it dries.
  • It may turn yellow when exposed to the sun. To prevent this, hang dry in the shade for a short period of time and avoid direct sunlight. Also, store it in a place where it is not exposed to sunlight or fluorescent light.
  • Do not tumble dry. It can shrink in the dryer. Merino wool will felt when exposed to heat, so putting your merino wool in the dryer will mean it starts felting and will cause it to shrink.
  • After drying, use a steamer to restore the shine and smoothness of your clothes, making them look like new in no time.
