Introducing the 100% Merino Wool Tank Top with Bra

A new addition is joining our 100% Merino Wool Jersey Series: the Tank Top with Bra.

Crafted from an ultra-fine 14.5-micron fiber (Super 180’s), this premium Merino Wool jersey fabric offers unparalleled comfort and advanced functionality. Not only does it excel in insulation, but it also provides outstanding moisture absorption and release, as well as odor resistance, making it a material ideal for year-round wear. Utilizing this high-performance fabric, we have developed a tank top with a built-in bra that can be enjoyed in any season.

Since its inception, MUUGI has proudly offered the 100% Silk Tank Top with Bra as a signature product, beloved by many of our customers. At the same time, numerous loyal users of our Merino Wool products have requested a tank top with a built-in bra made from this fabric. After extensive prototyping and testing, we are delighted to announce its release.

Merino Wool is often associated with winter, but it actually boasts a remarkable feature: its excellent moisture absorption and release properties, which help prevent the discomfort of sweat-induced chills. Those who already use and love our Merino Wool products may be well aware of this benefit. When this characteristic is applied to cup-integrated underwear that sits closest to your skin, it delivers even more impressive results.

This past August, as the prototype sample neared completion, I wore it daily for testing during the sweltering heat. Walking outside and exercising in the blazing summer sun made me truly appreciate the high-performance qualities of this material. I noticed how it significantly reduced the unpleasant chill from sweat and air conditioning. That comfort was so striking that I found myself reaching for the Merino Wool option more and more frequently.

Now, in November, with the arrival of chillier weather, I’m still enjoying the Merino Wool Tank Top with Bra. This time, I’m appreciating the natural warmth that wool provides. On days with a lingering chill, the subtle brushed texture of the Merino Wool offers a gentle, cozy warmth, making it my go-to choice. At the same time, it continues to excel at preventing sweat-induced chills during warmer moments—like when I’m riding a crowded train or moving around. It has become an indispensable piece, even on physically active days like setting up for pop-up events.

Merino Wool also offers "odor-resistant and antibacterial" benefits.
Its natural antibacterial properties inhibit the growth of bacteria while its fibers trap odors, such as sweat and body odor, effectively keeping unpleasant smells at bay. This reduces the need for frequent washing, making it an excellent choice for travel and outdoor activities.

The superior insulation, moisture management, and odor-resistant properties of Merino Wool make it a highly functional and comfortable fabric. Whether you’re prone to feeling cold, troubled by excessive sweating, or dealing with temperature fluctuations between indoor and outdoor environments in winter or summer, this material shines in a variety of situations—including during travel.

Now, while this tank top with bra is designed to offer the same gentle, non-restrictive fit and silhouette as the 100% Silk Tank Top with Bra, adjustments have been made to account for the different fabric characteristics of the Silk and Merino wool series.

Specifically, the silk series uses a ribbed knit fabric, which offers greater horizontal stretch than the jersey knit used for the Merino Wool series. If we were to create the Merino Wool tank top using the exact dimensions of the silk version, the fit would feel too tight.

To address this, the Merino Wool tank top is designed with larger horizontal dimensions than its silk counterpart. When you first pick it up, you may notice that it appears wider compared to the silk version. However, when worn, most users find that the fit feels very similar to the silk tank top. Depending on your body type, some may even find the Merino wool tank top less restrictive, thanks to its larger measurements. While the silk version offers a slightly snugger fit, the Merino wool version provides a softer, more relaxed feel. Additionally, the slightly larger dimensions of the Merino wool tank top make it easier to put on and take off compared to the silk version, which has been noted as a benefit by some users.

The color lineup includes White, Taupe, Black, and two new shades for 2024: Smoky Cocoa and Charcoal, for a total of five colors.
